Lester G. Weyand passed away on Jan. 29, 2024. He was 92 years old.

Lester was born to George and Hattie Mueller Weyand on Feb. 14, 1931 in Round Top. He was the youngest of seven children. He married Cecilia Stavinoha on October 9, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville. They had four children, Karen, Cheryl, Gary, and Daryl.

Lester served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. They resided in Houston and Katy where he was a machinist. He owned a Snap-On Tool business for many years.

He also worked for the Katy School District in maintenance before he retired. They owned a farm in Dubina where they spent every weekend, holiday, and vacation. They enjoyed farming and raising cattle. They eventually moved there and started raising emus. They lived on the farm full-time for six years.

After leaving the farm, they moved back to Katy and later to Cypress. He was a man of many talents. If something was broke, he could fix it. His neighbors and friends called him often for advice and help when something didn’t work.

He enjoyed polka music and dancing tremendously. He loved spending time with all of his family.

Survivors include his wife, Cecilia of Cypress; daughters Karen Sabrsula and husband James of Katy, Cheryl Kuhn and husband Ricky of La Grange; and son, Daryl Weyand and wife Rebecca of Cypress; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Gary Weyand, two grandchildren, three brothers and their spouses, and three sisters and their spouses.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church in Katy.
