Pechal

Marian “Val” Pechal, 93, of La Grange, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Val was born in Houston, on July 5, 1928, the daughter of Joseph Galbreath and Marian (McClain) Galbreath. She married Joseph A. Pechal on Aug. 8, 1951 in Houston.

She worked as an elementary school teacher for La Grange ISD for 39 years. Val was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the American Revolution and Retired Teachers as well as other church and civic organizations. She always enjoyed reading a good book, loved dancing but most especially enjoyed playing bridge with her local ladies bridge group.

She is survived by two sons: Stan Pechal and wife, Melita, of Rockwall; Mike Pechal and wife, Trish, of La Grange; sister, Katherine McGovern of Houston; two sisters-in-law: Polly Epps of Houston, and Ruby Tielsch of La Grange; and four grandchildren: Hana Pechal, Brian Pechal, Michelle Cooper and husband, Clint, and Anthony Pechal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Joseph.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 156 N. Monroe St., La Grange, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
