David Damian Ramjohn, a cherished husband, son, brother, uncle, and respected professional, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 22, 2024, in Texas, USA. Born in Trinidad & Tobago on May 13, 1964, David’s life journey was one marked by academic excellence, professional achievement, and a profound love for his family and the natural world.

David is survived by his devoted wife, Deokie; his loving mother, Sylvia; and his siblings Bernadine, Bernadette, June, Judy, Tracey, Wendy, and Sally. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers, Jude, Steve, and Clive; brothers-in-law, Bryan, Keegan, Joe, Pramchan, and Rishi; sisters-in-law, Bhamanie, Nalini, and Maria; his nieces, Bella, Mariah, Lilly, Anika, and Marika; and his nephews, Antonio and Joshua. David was a cherished member of his extended family, including his father-in-law, Mohan, and mother-in-law, Keyso.

David’s academic pursuits began at St. Mary’s College in Trinidad & Tobago and continued in the United States, where he graduated cum laude with a B.Sc. in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston, South Carolina. His thirst for knowledge led him to complete an M.Sc. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis on Policy & Law. Throughout his educational journey, David was recognized for his intelligence and dedication, earning several prestigious awards, including the Bishop Robert Smith Award, the highest accolade given to a graduate at the College of Charleston.

David’s professional life was as illustrious as his academic career. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of AlgEternal Technologies, LLC in Texas, and as an Independent Consultant in the fields of energy, renewable energy, and the environment. His contributions to environmental policy and marine resources in Trinidad & Tobago were significant, having worked with the Environmental Management Authority and the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources.

Beyond his professional and academic accomplishments, David’s interests included reading, watching movies, traveling, and researching. Those who knew him best will remember David as an intelligent, wise, and loving individual, whose presence enriched the lives of everyone around him.

In the words of Albert Einstein, “The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.” David lived by this principle, giving generously of his knowledge, time, and heart to his family, friends, and the many causes he championed. His legacy will live on in the impact he had on environmental conservation and the warm memories he created with those he loved.

David’s life was a testament to the power of dedication and the importance of cherishing the natural world. His family takes comfort in knowing that he leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and commitment to making the world a better place.

As we bid farewell to David Damian Ramjohn, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the profound influence he had on the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit continues to inspire us to live with purpose and compassion.

A visitation was held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. with family present at this time to receive friends.
