48-Year Coaching Vet Tidwell Hired to Lead Lady Horns Hoops Larry Tidwell will return to Schulenburg to coach high school girls basketball. A legend in women’s hoops and a Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee in 2021, Tidwell has compiled an overall record of 548-245 as a head coach at both the high school and collegiate level.

Shorthorns Place 9th at State Golf Tournament

The Schulenburg golf team finished ninth out of the 12 teams at the 2A state golf tournament held this week at Lions Municipal Course in Austin. The Shorthorns shot a two-day 692. Sonora won the team title with a 626.

Shelter Took In 51 Animals Last Week

As of April 20, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 503: 249 dogs and 254 cats in need. As of April 20, the shelter has 95 animals in care: 71 dogs/24 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
