Traffic Stop Leads to Money Laundering and Felony Possession of Controlled Substance

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Tuesday morning around 11 a.m. Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on a 2019 Buick Encore passenger car on I-10 westbound near the Fayette/ Gonzales County line for a traffic violation.

Burglars Hit Country Store at O’Quinn

The O’Quinn Store on FM 609 was hit by burglars sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Sheriff’s officers said $20 in quarters, $3 in nickels, and three cartons of cigarettes were missing. Entry was gained by smashing a window at the rear of the store owned by Paul (Jack) Korenek.

Subdivision Regulations Tightened

The Fayette County Commissioners Court amended the County’s subdivision ordinance to limit the way developers can divide tracts of land in Fayette County. The new rules come in response to a recent subdivision request in the High Hill area opposed by some residents.

Three Arrested for Ledbetter Murder

Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger reports that three suspects have been arrested for the March 5 murder of Carlos Ramone Green near Ledbetter. Green, 36 of College Station, was found dead from gunshot wounds at property on Lee County Road 123 between Ledbetter and Dime Box.
